Holtz & Reed Prevails In MGH Gender Discrimination Case

Holtz & Reed won a significant victory in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, where a federal jury decided that its clients, Partners Healthcare and Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, did not engage in gender discrimination against Nina Shervin, M.D., a former orthopaedic resident at MGH, when she was placed on probation and later denied a staff position in the Department of Orthopaedics.  While the jury heard argument from Dr. Shervin’s attorneys that she had received positive evaluations from many senior surgeons, Lead Defense Counsel, Herbert L. Holtz, explained that Dr. Shervin was “a doctor full of promise and then lost the trust of her colleagues.’’
