Holtz & Reed Obtains Defense Jury Verdict for Hospital in Suffolk Superior Court Trial

Posted on: Tuesday, June 17th, 2014

On June 11, 2014, after a three-day trial, Holtz & Reed obtained a defense verdict for a major Boston teaching hospital.  The plaintiff claimed that the hospital had refused to hire him into its pharmacy because of age discrimination.  The hospital denied any wrongdoing, and it claimed instead that the plaintiff’s application had been bypassed because the hospital was looking to fill a night shift position and plaintiff’s job application indicated he was seeking a job during a day shift.

The jury’s deliberations lasted ten minutes.

Jay Sullivan represented the hospital at trial.  This is the third time in the last five months that Holtz & Reed has obtained a defense jury verdict at trial for a major Boston-area employer.  For more information on our litigation and employment practices, contact Jay Sullivan (jsullivan@holtzandreed.com) or Herb Holtz (hlh@holtzandreed.com).
